[Syrupmakers] Question for sorghum growers

Well, I had read somewhere that same thought, to not fertilize with anything because it will affect the taste, but I never personally knew anyone to ask the truth of that. So that is why I wanted to pick some of the brains on this list who actually have had "boots on the ground" experience trying it, and their results from doing so.
Thanks everyone for this feedback. I guess I will leave well enough alone then :-0

My mentor here in north Texas is 94 years old, he cooked syrup for 72 years. The first thing he told me was to never grow sorghum or cane in a field that has been recently fertilized with manure. He said the syrup from it will taste horrible
