[Syrupmakers] mill rebuild

Tobby,
I purchased the mill completely rebuilt, it being a mule mill doesn’t turn very fast and so far it has held up well (saying that I only used it for a few cooking’s per year for 3 years). I now have a Chattanooga 27 power mill that I use so it gets used less.
Good luck on your re-build, need to find a small machine shop with a passion for the old stuff.

Andy, how does the Teflon work for you ? Do you have to lubricate the Teflon ? I have a Chat #13 that I'm looking to restore. I've always wandered how the Teflon worked.

I have a mill that they were replaced with a Teflon type material – might be cheaper than brass.

Understood David,
Unfortunately, I used Babbitt for Laurel Valley’s mill. The mill I personally use had the bushings replaced, but I didn’t make them. Dick Gibbens made my brass replacement bushings when he was still around.
I do have a mill and lathe, but don’t feel that I’m up for the task just yet, as brass blanks can be extremely expensive. I can try forwarding your information to an antique engine club out of Donaldsonville, LA that does this kind of work. What model/size mill is it?

I am looking for someone that could rebuild it, new brass bushings, to replace the babbitt ones,
