[Syrupmakers] when to plant

Monty,
    I like to plant about mid-November in NW FL. It will usually stay dormant until February and have some roots then to support the top. Earlier planting-- July or August can be good, but I hate what it does to the stubbles of the cane where you cut the seedcane from. It weakens it.
