I see there is a problem with the website. I just got Bill Gunter's message second hand. It did not come yesterday directly, but today in someone else's response. I wonder if the moderator is aware of this?

Subject: Re: [Syrupmakers] Is this forum still extant? Lloyd,  We had severe droughts in NW FL. First in late Spring (after being wet for a good while), then a break, then 2 months or more of nearly zero rain with temps around 100 sometimes. We even had 102 degrees on Sep 26 and then 104 degrees on September 27!    My blueberry plants ( 2 years old and heavily mulched) almost died--twice this year. Watered them by hand in the Spring and by hand and drip in the late Summer and Fall.   The sugarcane survived remarkably well (on good soil), though, without any irrigation. Last Winter did not kill most of the sugarcane! This happens maybe once every 10 years or more than 10. 30 degrees is predicted for Wednesday morning. That is lower than it got all Winter last year! That will kill sugarcane eyes if it gets that cold.

Thanks so much!! I will look into it, we suffered heavy losses this year to all sorts of insects besides to much rain and high humidity. Orchard and veggies was a horrible loss but other plants helped make up for what  suffered as always.

Subject: Re: [Syrupmakers] Is this forum still extant? Lloyd,   Have you read the label for Imidacloprid? I don't know it it is labeled for sorghum or not, so read the label. It is a systemic and is used on citrus, peach and other crops. It is very safe to use (especially for a systemic) and in some cases has a waiting period between spraying and harvest of zero days! Some things have 3 days....    It is used on similar insects that attack citrus. That is why I am suggesting that you look into it. It is not expensive to use, either when bought in the higher concentration.     Check it out.
