[Syrupmakers] Is this forum still extant?

Sivanto is the only thing we've found to effectively control Sugar Cane Aphids which first started arriving in the last several years.  While expensive, it only takes about 4oz per acre.
To learn more about S.C. Aphids and to talk with lots of producers to determine what might work best for your situation, I suggest you attend the annual MTG of the National Sweet Sorghum Producers and Processors Association (NSSPPA), held in February in Pigeon Forge, TN.  Anyone needing more info and membership application, please send me a PM.

I will look into it, we suffered heavy losses this year to all sorts of insects besides to much rain and high humidity. Orchard and veggies was a horrible loss but other plants helped make up for what  suffered as always.

I don't know it it is labeled for sorghum or not, so read the label. It is a systemic and is used on citrus, peach and other crops. It is very safe to use (especially for a systemic) and in some cases has a waiting period between spraying and harvest of zero days! Some things have 3 days....    It is used on similar insects that attack citrus. That is why I am suggesting that you look into it. It is not expensive to use, either when bought in the higher concentration.     Check it out.

Still here  and growing and cooking.   I too would like to find a way to rid aphids and other pest at harvest (small worms I think that sting or bite some folks)
